Stefan Kjung: I will leave the Tour de France for a rainbow Jersey

The star of the Groupama — FDJ Cycling team, Stefan Kyung, admitted that in any case, he will not reach the Tour de France this year. And all because he wants to take part in the world Cycling Championships, which will be held in his native Switzerland.

“You can’t miss a home world Cup,” Kuenk said in an interview Blick.ch adding that the intersection of the championship with the Tour de France was an annoying puzzle for him: “I can’t understand why the race couldn’t be moved from Sunday to Wednesday.”

According to him, he still dreams of being on the Champs-Elysees in Paris, but this time he definitely chooses the opportunity to win the rainbow Jersey of the world champion. “In any case, I will leave the race a week before it ends. This will give me the opportunity for two weeks to make every effort to help the team in the first weeks, ” said the Swiss cyclist.

And Kyung really has a chance to win the championship title in the race with a separate start, since Tom Dumoulin, Primo Roglich and Wout van Art have already announced that they will not participate in the world Cycling championship this year.

Jacob Fulsang does not rule out early departure from Astana»

35-year-old Jacob Fulsang did not rule out an early departure from Astana, as he would like to lead the Danish team in 2021. Fulsang contacted Bjarne Riis and asked him to think about creating a purely Danish squad.

“I don’t know what will happen with NTT Pro Cycling (Bjarne Riis manages this team — ed.), but Bjarne can attract the main sponsor of Denmark. It would be great to go to the Danish team in 2021. This is my dream, ” said Fulsang, quoted by TV2.

The Dane and Astana Pro Team have a contract for 2021. “I think I should talk to team Manager Alexander Vinokurov about terminating my contract if Bjarne manages to attract a Danish sponsor. Only now this is not what is needed, ” the cyclist said.

This year, Jacob Fulsang will lead Astana in the Giro d’italia.
